The crown is the section of a tree where the branches grow out of the trunk and develop in to the canopy of smaller branches and leaves.
Over time and the continued growth of a tree the crown can be become very large and cause a number of issues.
We are often called by customers to address interference with telephone lines, obstructing light and pathways all which can be addressed by reducing the size of the crown, rather than removing the tree.
If the crown of a tree grows too large or too dense for your liking, our crown reduction services can help. This service reduces the whole height and spread of the branches of the tree. reduction in height and/or spread of the crown especially useful for addressing excessive shading or light loss
There are 2 other methods of dealing with the crown of you tree
Crown Thinning
Crown Lift or Crown Raising
Crown Thinning
Using the expertise of our tree surgeons, specific branches and resulting foliage are chosen to be removed from the crown which enables more light to penetrate the canopy or remove interference with a utility cable.
Crown Lift / Crown Raising
The lower branches of the crown are removed. The are usually the most mature in age and size which lifts the height at which the crown starts. This approach is effective at preserving the tree whilst enabling light to get to the garden and ground around the tree.
